The Mashpee Dog Park Committee was incorporated on March 8, 2010, with a goal of building, operating, and maintaining a public off-leash dog park.

The Mashpee Dog Park Committee, Inc. was renamed Friends of Mashpee Dog Park, Inc. on October 5, 2015, with a mission to provide ongoing stewardship for the park.
